So this was the absolute worst place to take pictures but the most awesomest fun place. It's called Sky High in Sacramento... full of giant trampolines. The kids jumped for an hour and were exhausted. Even the walls are trampolines. There were about 5 of these big structures in the place. I didn't use flash, bumped my ISO to 3200 and tried to use the fastest shutter speed while still allowing in the minimal light. Like I said... terrible conditions, but I got a few I can scrap :)

San Francisco Bay. The weather was really overcast, but that didn't stop me from lugging my camera everywhere I went. I know we've all seen a gazillion pictures of boats lined up at the doc, so I converted it to black and white to change it up a bit.

I took this a couple of months ago. The day before I was going to post this, Heather posted roses as well ... So I held off. He, he! I love how the sun warms up the picture.

On our way to San Francisco, I had Lance pull off of the highway after spotting this barn. I would love to do a family photo shoot here in the spring.

Here is aother picture I took of Cassie. It is in a dried out field full of weeds, but there were wild flowers all around.

More shots of the cemetery from November. This old section holds burials from the Spanish American war. There was an Army post in Roseville and this was the nearest cemetery. The mausoleum holds cremains of more soldiers.

This plaque caught my eye. Not necessarily because of what it says, but because what will happen if we don't. There is a dead rose lying right beside the plaque. If we don't forgive, then we become dried and brittle like this rose. Our pedals fall off and crumble when touched with love. I never want that to happen, so I must forgive ... whether I feel like it or not.

Okay, so I seriously blew it! I totally forgot about posting until I got to work today and then I couldn't do anything about it. So here's an oldie but a goodie. Gotta love Dan :)

I took this picture near the creek on the bike path we frequent. The sun was setting and the purple-orange sky was illuminating the scene. I adjusted the curve just a bit, but other than that, the colors are true to how I saw it through the lens. I used a tripod and a very slow shutter speed.

I was sitting on the couch one night and Daisy was by the fireplace. Please understand, I am not a person that loves taking pictures of their pet. But, I knew sitting there, that it was a perfect practicing opportunity for me, so I took it. Because of the lighting in the room, I didn't like how the picture turned out. But playing around with different settings and presets, I came up with this shot.

On a side note, I pray that God Blesses America today! :)

Yes, I love technology. But not as much as you, you see. Still, I love technology. Always and forever.

Brendan asked me to take some pictures of his bass for his facebook page. I've always thought his bass was sharp, but it wasn't until I focused in on the detail that I noticed what a beautiful instrument it is.

This is a statue at our church. When I took the picture, I envisioned everything black and white and just the blue of the person "running the race" in color. I wasn't to thrilled with the background, but since I couldn't move the statue, I did the best with what I had. ;)

Tried to capture the beauty of our fire the other night. I seriously sat there for quite a while watching. The flames seemed to dance.

Here are a few samples of the shots I took of Brendan's band- Freedom Affair. They're really serious about getting exposure, and top of their list were some good band pics. They are creating a MySpace page and are going to record a demo in a couple of months. I told the boys I would take their pictures as long as I could cash them in for some serious money when they become famous :-) Just kidding, it was a blast working with these boys.

I took this picture at our church in their prayer garden. I was drawn to the single rose pedal on the bench in the middle of winter.

This is actually from Christmas. I used a soft filter to dreamy it up a bit.

I took these pictures for my Mom. She has a little business called Susie's Seashells. She has some beautiful items that she wants to catalog online and I offered to take some shots for her. She ended up using some for her advertisements and business cards.

This was taken in my Mother-in-Law's back yard a couple of weeks ago. I played around with the picture and came up with what you see. :)

Okay... I was playing in PS tonight and going for that bright, colorful face pic like Heather gets. I think I need some lessons. I settled on the blown out look and kind of like the effect. This is my niece.

This one is from my stash :-) I took this picture on my Old Auburn Field trip. Other than adjusting the cuves a bit, I didn't process this one.

I took this picture earlier this week. I am trying to learn to capture the color in sunsets. This time around, the moon was up in the sky making it an interesting shot. :)

Went to a New Year's Eve party and the house was incredible and still wonderfully decorated for Christmas. I was kind of distracted that night and didn't get many good shots but found a couple that were okay. Was trying to work without a flash. Forgot to get camera settings again too :(

I filled up my memory card with pictures from our recent trip to the snow with some friends. I jumped at the opportunity to take pictures as it was a good excuse to keep me out of the snowball crossfire! I made a point of keeping my shutter speed above 1/125 to freeze all of the sledding fun and a fairly small aperture to keep everything in focus.

I was trying to capture humming birds, but this butterfly flew up instead. I decided not to process this picture to capture the color and detail of the flowers and the butterfly. :)

One of my resolutions, to get more into the Word. I've been soooo flaky lately. Letting too many things take that place. I want to do what I do well (family, photo, scrap, church, friends...) and I know for that to happen, I need to balance it with plenty of God.

Winter Beauty

I went for a walk around the neighborhood and snapped this picture. It seems that photography has opened my eyes to beauty all around... even on a cold afternoon in my front yard.

Happy New Year everyone! :) Here is a picture I took up at my mom's house in the snow. Even though it does not show Cassie's face, I like the idea of just her hands showing. It captures how small she still is. I think I like the color picture the best ... shows off the snow. (BTW, Cassie helped me with the vignetting.) With the new year here, I thought I would make a New Years resolution of taking better everyday shots. Life gets so crazy, I forget about everyday my kids change. So hopefully this year, I can capture them in "life". Not just a birthday, or Christmas, but May 16th, or August 2nd. A plain typical day, yet extraordinary because they are in it. :)

I know it looks similar but I posted the other one and wished I had posted this one. I like the closer crop. I promise I'll start taking pics again :)

I wish you both a Happy New Year!! Here's to some awesome pictures in 2009!
